TEEN pranksters are believed to have sparked a search by armed police in an area surrounded by two schools and a college during the early morning rush hour.

The St Vincent’s Road area of Fulwood, Preston, was scoured by special support officers following after a report that a man with a firearm had been seen in the area.

Both Corpus Christi Catholic High school and Archbishop Temple CE High and the nearby Preston’s College were alerted but a spokesman for Lancashire Police said it is now believed the call was a hoax.

The spokesman said special officers were deployed to the area and found no trace of anything in the area.

She added that teachers at the school had been “spoken to and reassured” that nothing had been found and the search is now on to find caller.
