Firefighters dealt with several incidents across Lancashire on Saturday night.

Officers wearing breathing apparatus tackled a blaze in Corporation Street, Chorley, at around 7pm last night. The fire started in the kitchen and a crew used a hosereel to put the fire out. There were no casualties.

In Dover Road, Blackpool, firefighters were called to a derelict industrial building where a mattress had been set alight.

They used a hosereel in the incident yesterday afternoon.

In another incident, Fleetwood coastguard was mobilised early today after a request for assistance from Lancashire police to find a missing person.

Fleetwood police sounded the alert at around 1.30am but a missing woman was found elsewhere as the team assembled at the station.

Meanwhile arson is suspected at a derelict school in Byron Street, Burnley.

Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform and crews were assigned to the scene of the blaze last night. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used water jets to extinguish the fire, which had spread into the roof space. There were no casualties.
