A young mother who died tragically at the weekend has been described as “a lovely, lovely girl.”

Thirty-four-year-old Julie Shaw, a devoted mother of three children, drowned in a water-filled former quarry pit at Green Bank Park, off Higher Road, in Longridge, near where she lived, after a night out on Friday.

A friend, who preferred not to be named, said: “It has absolutely rocked the community because she was so involved with it. She had a good circle of friends and was really well thought of by everyone.

“I am absolutely heartbroken because she was such a lovely, lovely girl who had everything to look forward to.

“I just don’t think people can believe her life is over. She was absolutely beautiful and had a lovely smile.”

The friend said everyone’s thoughts were with Julie’s family.
