Detectives are appealing for witnesses after man was robbed in a Preston park in broad daylight.
Officers say the man was sitting on a bench in Winckley Square at around 10.30am on Thursday April 23 when he was approached by two men.
One of the men sat next to him, while the other man stood in front of him. The man who was sitting next to him said: “You are being robbed.” He then punched him on the side of the head.
The two men then pinned the victim to the ground and kicked and punched him repeatedly before searching his pockets. The attackers fled the scene with £20 in cash after they were disturbed by two members of the public.
The victim sustained facial injuries and a black eye as a result of the attack.
DC Geoff Wade of Preston CID said: “This was a nasty and violent robbery which happened in broad daylight while the victim was sitting in the park making the most of the nice weather.
“We are keen to trace two men who we believe witnessed the incident and disturbed the attackers and I would urge them to come forward.
“Similarly, if anyone was in the park at the time of the robbery and witnessed what happened then please get in touch with us. You may hold vital information that could lead to the identification of the two offenders.”
One of the offenders is described as white, approximately 20 years old, around six-feet tall, with short brown hair and slight stubble.
The other offender is described as black, aalso pproximately six-feet tall, muscular build with short black hair and was wearing a dark jacket with lighter coloured sleeves.
