A father was arrested after sending a nasty text to his ex partner because she would not let him take his son away for the weekend.

William Hodge texted “you will seriously regret this” and his former girlfriend reported him to the police.

Hodge, a 24-year-old call centre worker, of Bush Lane, Freckleton, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order.

He was sentenced to do 60 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £60 victim’s surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said in June Hodge was made the subject of a restraining order which banned him from contacting his ex, except through his mother, to arrange contact with his 11-month-old son.

Martin Hillson, defending, said: “He feels aggrieved because his child contact is only at dates and times agreed to by his ex. He feels the child is used as a weapon against him.”
