Chorley FC match disrupted after "mindless idiot" hurls scooter handle onto pitch

A "mindless idiot" hurled a metal scooter handle onto Chorley FC's pitch last night (Tuesday, April 27), narrowly missing a player.

Police are appealing for information to find the person responsible for the "stupid act" which officers say "could have led to serious injuries".

The pink metal handlebars were lobbed onto the pitch at Victory Park shortly after Chorley FC's under-21 side kicked off a friendly with Blackpool's Squires Gate FC at 7.30pm.

Sgt Paul Harrison said: "Chorley were playing a match at home and a mindless idiot has opted to throw over the handle bars of a scooter into the ground.

"This landed on the pitch narrowly missing a player.

"This could have led to serious injuries and behaviour like this will not be tolerated.
