Chorley burglar stole jewellery and valuables including an ornamental chess set

A man who burgled a home in Chorley and stole jewellery, cash and valuables has been given a suspended jail term.

Ian Mee, of Whitethorn Close, Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley, entered the victim’s house on Back Lane, Chorley.

Preston Crown Court heard two gold necklaces, a watch, £400 of Canadian dollars, £60 of Swiss Francs, were taken during the incident on July 14, 2019.

The victim also had a Hewlett Packard laptop, an ornamental chess set and an engagement ring stolen.

The 43-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to the burglary and received an 18 months jail term, but the sentence was suspended for 12 months.
