CCTV appeal after bank card fraud in Preston

Officers were contacted by a 57-year-old man on June 8 who reported losing his bank card near St George’s Shopping Centre in Preston at about 3.30pm.

The man said £300 had been fraudulently withdrawn from his account.

Further investigation revealed the cash had been taken at Halifax Bank in Orchard Street around 3.40pm.

Police said several more unsuccessful attempts were made to take money, including £100 at 3.50pm from Yorkshire Bank on Orchard Road and at 4pm from Iceland supermarket in Lowthian House.

A fourth attempt to use the card was made at 3.15am on June 9 at the Key Filling Station in Garstang Road, Preston.

Police have released images of a woman they want to speak to following the theft.

PC Richard Shires, of Preston Police, said: “We are appealing for information after a man was the victim of fraud in Preston.

“Several transactions were attempted using the victim’s bank card – one successfully – and we need to find the person responsible.

“We are particularly keen to trace this woman, pictured, in connection with the incident.”
