Body of man found in Clayton-le-Moors river

The body of a man in his 50s was found in a river at Clayton-le-Moors.

Emergency services were called to reports a body had been found in the river close to Lower Barnes Street at around 9.45am on Saturday (November 7).

Around seven police cars, an ambulance and a fire engine reportedly rushed to the scene where they found the body of a man in his 50s.

Police have confirmed his death is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We attended and sadly found the body of a man aged in his 50s.

"There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.

"Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this sad time."
