Body found in search for missing Weeton soldier Jordan Corcoran

Officers searching for a missing soldier found a body yesterday evening, say police.

Formal identification is yet to take place however it is believed to be Jordan Corcoran, 28, who was last seen at Weeton Camp on Singleton Road at shortly before midnight on Tuesday, July 3.

The body was found following joint police and army searches in a wooded area on the Weeton Camp site.

Ch Insp Lee Wilson said: “Mr Corcoran’s family have been informed and both Lancashire Police and the Army have specially trained officers offering them support at this extremely sad and difficult time. Our thoughts remain with them.

“I would like to offer my thanks and condolences to our colleagues in the Army who assisted us greatly with the searches and in particular Jordan’s friends.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

A file has been prepared for HM Coroner.
