Police searching for a man missing since New Year’s Eve have found a body.
Merseyside Police confirmed that detectives trying to trace missing 34-year-old Adam Whitehurst from Churchtown in Southport were liaising with Lancashire Police after the discovery of a man’s body on land in the Banks area on Saturday.
The body has not been formally identified and forensic tests are being carried out to establish the identity of the man.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of his death.
Adam was last seen by his wife at about 10am on December 31.
