
Police say that a man suffered serious injuries to his head, back and leg in an attack which is reported to have involved an axe.
Ambulance services were called to Lancaster Roadat around 9.40pm on Friday, May 4 and took the victim, who is in his 30s, to hospital with what was described as a "major trauma."
He has since been discharged.

Police officers would now like to speak to 35-year-old James Stovold, from Lancaster, as part of their investigation.
Acting DS Andrew Clitheroe of Lancaster CID, said: “We’d like to speak to Stovold as part of our investigation and are appealing to anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
“I’d also urge James, if he sees this appeal to attend the nearest police station.”
James (also known as Jim and Jimmy) is described as being 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build with a shaven head or short hair. Stovold has links to Morecambe, Lancaster and South Cumbria.
A 25-year-old man from Morecambe was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released under investigation.
