A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "I am looking at speaking with the owner of this dog after it has bitten an elderly lady without provocation.

"The owner has left the scene straight after the incident, even though members of the public have pleaded with him to stay.

"I am hoping that a public appeal will provide a name as early efforts have proved unsuccessful."
