A brave pub goer who stepped in to try and catch a robber, who threatened a 14-year-old girl with a beer glass, is being encouraged to come forward by police.

The teenager was walking home from Euxton Skate Park to Astley Village between 8pm and 8.30pm on Monday when she was approached by the thug on Chancery Road, Chorley.

The thief, described as white, 5ft 10in and skinny and wearing “beat box” style headphones, demanded her i-Phone.

When she refused, he held an empty pint glass towards her throat.

The frightened girl shouted for help from a couple who were walking their dog nearby, and they tried to confront and stop the man, who denied the robbery.

As they all walked past the Baron’s Rest pub another man, who had been standing outside the pub, tried to step in and help.

The robber then ran off into Astley Park.

Officers are now trying to trace the punter.

DC Gemma Lashley, of South CID, said: “ The victim is very shaken up and still very much in shock and it has left her feeling nervous.

“ We would like to appeal for information as to who the male was outside the pub, who assisted in trying to apprehend this male.”

The robber was in his mid to late 20s, had missing and rotten teeth, and was wearing a grey long sleeved hooded top and knee length shorts.

He had a dark tattoo on his right calf.

Call police on 101.
