Police are appealing for information after an 82 year old man was burgled as he slept at his home in Skelmersdale.

The burglary took place sometime between 11.30pm on Monday March 10 and 8.50am the following morning, Tuesday March 11 at the victim’s bungalow on Clayton Street.

The offender has forced a locked rear door and once inside has stolen cash from within a cupboard before entering the victim’s bedroom and stealing his wallet.

Around £135 was taken in total, as well as the victim’s bank card.

PC Suzanne Yates said: “The victim is an 82 year old man who has been left very distressed by the incident, particularly as the offender entered his bedroom whilst he was asleep.

“This is a despicable crime, particularly as his home has clearly been deliberately targeted due to his age and vulnerability. I would appeal to anybody that has any information that could assist with our investigation to contact me on 101.”
