Appeal after report of sexual assault in Lancaster

An investigation has been launched after a report a woman was sexually assaulted in Lancaster earlier this week.

Police said the 23-year-old woman was walking home after a night out in the early hours of Monday, March 3, when reports being approached by a man on Ashton Road and sexually assaulted.

Officers are working with the victim to establish exactly what happened and are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Richard McCutcheon said: “We have a team of detectives working on the case and specially trained officers working with the victim to piece together the sequence of events.

“We are trying to establish the circumstances around exactly what has happened and I would ask anyone who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously in the Bridge Road or Ashton Road area of Lancaster between the hours of midnight and 2.30am on Monday to come forward and contact us.

“Even the smallest piece of information could be crucial so we would urge anyone to contact us if they have any information at all that they think could assist the investigation.”
