Appeal after man is assaulted in Blackpool

Detectives in Blackpool are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man sustained a fractured cheek bone after being assaulted as he walked home.

The incident took place around 03:45am on Friday 14th February 2014 when the 30 year old victim was walking home along Park Road after a night out with a friend.

As he approached the junction with Somerset Avenue he was punched and kicked to the head in an unprovoked assault and suffered facial injuries, including a fractured cheek bone. The offender then made off in the direction of Knox Grove.

DC Mark Anson from Blackpool CID said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked assault on a young man who was clearly under the influence of drink. I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this assault or with any information that could assist with our investigation to contact me, DC 1964 Anson at Blackpool CID on 101.”

The offender is described as white, around 5’6”tall and was wearing a black sports type jacket, light coloured jogging bottoms, and a white coloured beany hat. He was also carrying a black and white sports type bag.
