POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly man had cash stolen from his home in Lostock Hall.

It happened between 10am and 1pm on Thursday August 28 on Marina Grove.

It is believed that someone forced access to the property via a door at the rear of the house, whilst the 85-year-old home owner was upstairs.

They made a search of the downstairs rooms and it is believed £1,000 in cash was taken.

PC Kate Lacki of Preston Police said: “This is a despicable crime committed against a vulnerable elderly person in their own home.

“I would appeal to anyone in the local community who has witnessed a male and female knocking on doors in this area, at or around this time, to come forward to police or phone Crimestoppers and help us to catch those involved.”

Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting crime reference CL1407719 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
