Conversely defendants who may have been given hospital orders, or indeterminate jail sentences - given to dangerous offenders with no fixed length of time before they were abolished in 2012 - may not have been released if deemed unsuitable by the Parole Board.

5. Mohmed Salman Patel
Patel, then 27, of Carham Road, Blackburn, killed Shelby Maher, 17, and Rachel Murphy, 23, when his blue automatic BMW struck them on Brockholes Brow, whilst he was distracted by his phone.
Rachel was pronounced dead at the scene while Shelby died a short time later in hospital.
In 2018 he was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and jailed for six years.
6. David Bullman
Bullman killed 39-year-old Nicola Seed by savagely beating her before strangling with her own bathrobe.
The Preston mum-of-four was murdered by her ex-boyfriend when he “lost his temper” during a row, attacking her so brutally it left blood stains six feet up the wall.
During the attack at Ms Seeds flat in Hazel Grove, Grange,Bullman kicked and stamped on her head
He was jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years in 2011 meaning he could be out in 2027.
7. Connor Gibson
Two-year-old Kacey Hambleton was left with "car crash" head and liver injuries when Gibson shook her to death.
Police were called to an address on Granby Avenue, Blackpool, after Kacey had been found unresponsive by paramedics. Gibson, then 23, of Melrose Avenue, was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2014 for her manslaughter.
He had pleaded guilty to the offence on the day he was due to stand trial.
8. Kieran Walmsley/ Karl Johnson
Walmsley battered, kicked and stamped his petite girlfriend Janet Edwards to death after the couple moved from Preson to Newcastle.
A post-mortem examination revealed 68 separate injuries to her, including a fractured nose, fractured rib and a ruptured liver.
She had died from internal abdominal bleeding caused by being stamped, jumped on or kicked.
In 2010 he got life with a minimum term of 13 years for murder, meaning he is potentially due out in 2023.
