73-year-old woman pushed over and robbed in 'shocking and brazen' Blackburn attack

A 73-year-old woman was pushed over and robbed in broad daylight as she was walking in Blackburn.

A 73-year-old woman was walking on Gordonstoun Place after visiting Tesco Express at Bank Top.

As she was walking a man approached her from behind and pushed her over.

The offender apologised and helped the woman to her feet.

When the victim returned home she realised her purse containing £60 had been stolen.

The incident occurred at around 12.10pm on Thursday, March 5.

Following CCTV enquiries police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

Det Con Claire Scott, of Blackburn CID said: “We are keen to identify this individual and would urge anyone who knows him to come forward and contact us.

“We believe the victim was followed from Tesco before being pushed over and robbed. Fortunately she only suffered minor injuries.

"This was a shocking and brazen attack in broad daylight which has left the victim very shaken and I believe someone will know who this man is."
