Come and join in with popular holiday club

Young footballers are invited to attend an activity scheme during the summer holidays.

Astley and Buckshaw JFC is opening up its club for children of primary school age for four weeks during August.

The charter standard club will be running its holiday scheme in Astley Village based at the community centre, in Hall Gate, between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday beginning on Monday, August 1, until Friday, August 26. It costs £25 for the week or £7 per day.

Coun Mark Perks, who helped to set up the club, said: “The summer holiday scheme provides for fun outdoor activities in Astley Village.

“It engages children in learning skills, socialising with friends and making new ones in a safe environment as they play games and have fun.

“I have had the pleasure to have organised the scheme for 13 years now.

“This shows there is always a strong need for such a scheme within the community and it is well received.

“It always proves to be popular with all the places being taken by the time it starts.

“It is a non-profit making venture keeping it making it low cost and thus affordable for families. Each week has 30 places which are being steadily taken so far this year.”

Places are limited and must be booked either for days or for each week.

Registration forms are available on www.abjfc.co.uk and on Chorley Council’s What’s On website.
