As December 1 looms, one Preston shopping centre is kicking off the Christmas season this weekend.
St George’s Shopping Centre on Fishergate will officially launch Christmas at St George’s tomorrow with a children’s’ craft workshop from 10am, followed by Santa’s arrival at 2pm, and the unveiling of its new-look grotto where elves will also be giving out treats.
Marketing manager Alanna Dent said: “We wanted to give our shoppers a gift this year by creating a stress-free shopping experience.
“Free parking, convenient opening times and free services to keep the kids entertained will no doubt be welcomed.”
While the free events throughout the Christmas period will create a magical experience for all shoppers, they are also set to raise funds for Preston-based charity Galloway’s Society for the Blind.
The charity, which has teamed up with St George’s for almost a decade, works to help improve the lives of visually impaired people across Lancashire.
Last year’s Christmas events at St George’s raised a record-breaking £12,000. However, the mall’s bosses are hoping to smash the fundraising target with the help of shoppers.
Alanna added: “While all our Christmas events are free of charge, we are encouraging people to dig deep and make a charitable donation to Galloway’s.”
