Parents in Chorley attended the post natal class at the Unitarian Chapel in Park Street on Thursday.

Led by Madeline Diaz Meiners, the yoga and massage sessions involve learning techniques and strokes to ‘aid growth, soothing and bonding for mother and baby’.

Madeline said: “Yoga also helps women recover and heal gently, but effectively.

“It’s a fun and enjoyable way to aide post-natal recovery; we do postures to help muscle tone, offer support for the back and boost energy levels, as well as strengthening the pelvic floor.

“The fun, rhythmic movements also encourage the baby’s development, offering playful stimulation through yoga-based exercises, whilst baby massage helps to aid digestion, reduce colic and improve sleeping patterns.”

She added: “At the end of each class, we take time to reflect on our practice, drink tea, eat biscuits and chat with other mummies.”

The six-week course is held between 11am and noon each Wednesday and Thursday.

Madeline also runs pregnancy yoga to help strengthen the back, as well as ‘reduce stress and anxiety’.
