The day provided an opportunity to meet and work with John on a variety of his music, both well-loved and newer works, with a few surprises.

Originally from London, John Rutter studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. His compositions embrace choral, orchestral and instrumental music. He now divides his time between composition and conducting and has lectured at many concert halls, universities, churches, music festivals and conferences in Europe, Scandinavia and North America.

The event was organised by The Association of British Choral Directors and the accompanist for the day was Ian Tate, whose career has seen him work across the North West for more than 30 years as a lecturer, teacher and accompanist.

CEO of Methodist Action, Stephen Hetherington, said: “I have been a fan of John Rutter for many years and am extremely proud he has taken part in this event to raise vital funds which will help our charity continue to support the homeless and disadvantaged across Lancashire.”
