The special edition from cheesemaker Dewlay is described as perfect for a romantic gift to a loved one, and Dewlay has announced that 30 per cent of sales will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.

“We are so passionate about Lancashire cheese, and so we thought with Valentine’s just around the corner, what better way of sharing the love than with a heart-shaped cheese,” said Laura Barnes, manager of The Cheese Shop at Dewlay.

“This cheese is exclusive to the cheese shop, and made with our finest Lancashire cheese it is then cut into a heart and hand waxed in red wax.

“Each cheese also comes with a heart gift card that can be personalised with your own message,” she added.

With 30 per cent of all sales of this cheese going to the British Heart Foundation, Laura is hoping the cheeses will go down a storm, and with only a limited number of cheese made, they are already selling fast.

“We were keen to link up with a charity this year, and as hearts are synonymous with Valentine’s we thought it would be great to nominate the British Heart Foundation as our chosen charity for 2013.”

“Not only that, there are many of us at Dewlay who have family members who have benefited from work carried out by the British Heart Foundation.

“The foundations work includes research into conditions like angina and babies born with heart defects to pulmonary hypertension.”

While this cheese is specially created for February 14 celebrations it will also feature in a range of Valentine’s hampers available from the Cheese Shop.
