Filming took place at the Mind charity shop, Hough Lane, earlier this year for the Great Property Giveaway on Channel 4 last night following a call from film makers Boomerang claiming a contestant was a regular shopper there.

Mind shop manager Jane Willis said: “The young woman had told producers that the Mind shop is the place where she usually finds ‘the best quality bargains’ so that was a real boost for me and my team of hard-working volunteers.

“I am very selective about what goes our for sale as all of our items have to meet a very high quality standard and thanks to some very generous donors, we frequently have clothes with tags still on and unused CDs, DVDs and some lovely unique pieces of bric-a-brac.”

Now the shop needs more volunteers to sort through mountains of donations and get stock onto the shop floor to drive in sales for the UK charity which helps and supports people with mental health difficulties.

Jane said: “Volunteering at the Mind shop is hard work but great fun too. We have a family friendly atmosphere and all of our eligible volunteers are entitled to do free NVQ courses that we offer in partnership with Derby College.

Even if people only have a couple of hours to spare a week there is plenty to keep them occupied such as till work, sorting stock, steaming, computer work and ticketing and hanging clothes.”
