Charity goes back to its Chorley roots with new furniture shop

A Lancashire-based charity shop has returned to its roots to open a new furniture shop.

International Aid Trust has opened The Galleries, selling used furniture and electrical in Pall Mall.

Manager Dean Higham is Chorley-born and bred, and has 30 years’ experience in furniture and electrical retail. He said: “We aim to bring affordable, quality products to the people of Chorley and the surrounding areas.

“We’re looking forward to local people supporting our local charity. Feel free to come in and have a browse and meet the team.”

International Aid Trust, which has its headquarters in Much Hoole, is a Christian charity that has been helping people in desperate need across the world and in the UK since 1991.

The charity’s first charity shop was opened in Chorley in the early 1990s.

They now also have a well-established general charity shop in Market Street.

Charity chief executive, Rev Bernard Cocker, said: “Having this wonderful space in the heart of Chorley really feels like going back to the charity’s roots.”

In recent times, the charity has taken out warm clothes, bedding and hospital beds to underprivileged areas of Moldova and Ukraine, which typically experience harsh winters.

The Galleries will be open Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm and Saturday from 9am – 4pm.

A delivery service is available and the charity offers free collection of donated furniture.

Dean is also looking for more volunteers to join the team. Anyone interested is asked to contact the charity on 07587 540110.
