Celebration as adoption support worker wins an award

A woman who has supported adopted children and their new parents in Preston has been recognised for her stirling work.

Delyth Evans has been named as Adoption Support Worker of the Year at the First4Adoption National Adoption Week Awards for her dedication to training and giving advice to adopted children and their new parents through Preston adoption agency Caritas Care.

Adoption Matters chief executive, Norman Goodwin CBE said: “When Adoption Matters and Caritas Care set up our regional Centre for Adoption Support back in 2013, Delyth was our first choice when it came to identifying who had the specialist experience and skills to establish and manage it”.

By the end of the first two years the centre had considerably exceeded all targets and expectations.

Delyth, who lives in Warrington, was recently invited to share the centres model with in both Wales and Northern Ireland.

The centre offers training and support to adopters, their families and professionals and has now worked with 453 families, nearly 40 different local authorities and over 100 schools across the North West and continues to grow.
