Police have issued CCTV images of two men they want to trace following the theft of a bank card and £1,000 cash from a terminally ill man at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Sometime between Sunday 16 February and Wednesday 19 February 2014, a black leather bum bag belonging to a 70 year old patient was stolen whilst he was receiving treatment at the hospital.

Sadly the man passed away on Tuesday 4 March.

Within his bum bag was a Halifax bank card which has since been used at various cash points around Blackpool, including Costcutter on Chapel Street, the Post Office on Ansdell Road, Asda on Cherry Tree Road and Halifax on Church Street.

The card was also used on 19 February to make purchases at the Blackpool Marton Tesco Express on Whitegate Drive and the Blackpool Clifton Tesco Extra where a Technika 32” TV/DVD combi was purchased.

A total of £1006.95 has been withdrawn or spent.

PC Paul Gill said: “This is a despicable offence which has caused a huge amount of distress for this man’s family.

“I would urge anybody that recognises the men pictured in the CCTV images to contact police on 101.”
