Mobile phone footage shot by a shocked passer-by shows two men – one believed to be a man in his 70s – scuffling with a BMW driver just yards away from a school.

The fracas, close to Unity Academy in Warbreck Hill Road, North Shore at 4.20pm on Tuesday last week, is now being investigated by police.

One mum, who pulled over in an effort to stop the attack, said her six-year-old daughter Mia was forced to watch on in horror as several punches were thrown.

She said: “She was really hysterical and nobody wanted to stop it.

“I pulled over so I could help but she was begging me not to.

“One man was shouting, ‘You should look where you are going, I will show you, you will look next time’.

“I ran across the road taking pictures.

“My little girl will never forget this.”

The mum, who lives in Layton with her daughter and husband, said one man’s hat was knocked off and his leather jacket ripped in the altercation.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said a 73-year-old man reported the incident to officers

She said: “There was no collision but some sort of incident involving both cars. Both drivers then pulled over, and confronted each other.

“The offender shouted at the aggrieved before throwing a number of punches at him.

“The victim got into his car and drove off, leaving the offender at the scene.

“A man has been traced and we are speaking to him this week.

“He is going to the police station for a voluntary interview so we can get his side of events.”
