Police searching for a woman missing from her home in Hutton near Preston have found her car.

Doreen Smithson, 64, was last seen at her home on Ratten Lane on Sunday morning.

Officers said her family is “extremely concerned” about her disappearance, and are appealing for anyone who may have seen her to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “We are still appealing for information about Doreen Smithson. Doreen went missing yesterday (Sunday) morning.

“We have now found her car on West Cliff in Preston. This is just off Fishergate Hill.

“We would ask anyone who was in this area yesterday morning around 10.30am to get in touch if you saw anyone matching Doreen’s description.

“Doreen’s family are extremely concerned about her disappearance and just want her home.

“We are carrying out extensive searches for Doreen, so you may see Police activity in the area of Avenham Park and Fishergate Hill.

“If you have any information please call 101 quoting log 462 of the 10th January.”

Doreen is described as white, around 5ft 5ins tall, with dark, curly, bobbed hair.

She could be wearing a black top, a dark quilted jacket and striped pants.
