A Lancashire-based rural business advisor is running a series of DEFRA-funded social media training sessions for the agricultural sector in the coming months.

Preston-based Simon Haley is hosting seven dates in different locations.

They are September 29 Shropshire; October 20 , Suffolk; November 10, Somerset; November 24, Rutland; December 15, Skelmersdale, Lancashire; January 26, Petersfield; February 16, York.

The courses are designed to:

*Provide participants with a solid understanding of social media in practice using specific farm case studies to stimulate discussion

*Obtain direction in how to approach and apply social media to their industry with a social media strategy

*Understand how, based on best practice examples, to effectively use Twitter, Facebook, Blogging and Video to engage with their target audience and drive business to their website

*Learn how to embrace the power of social media to reach new markets through developing options to interact with audiences and influence customer perceptions and action

By the end of the course participants will be able to develop a plan and understand how to prioritise the different options available.
