The conversion of the landmark Lancaster Moor Hospital has been recognised with a second major award.

The Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) considered it to be the best residential scheme in the region after a visit to the Grade II listed building last month.

The judges looked at on-going works as well as completed apartments in The Residence and talked to residents as well as the developers, the PJ Livesey Group.

Now it has also been judged to be the Best Residential Development at the NW Insider Property Awards.

The PJ Livesey Group was also highly commended in the Property Developer category.

Company managing director Peter Livesey said: “The Awards for Lancaster Moor are testament to the hard work and skill of the entire team involved in the project. It also justifies the faith we had in our vision to bring this magnificent building back into use. We are delighted for our staff and for the residents who now enjoy living here.”

The Grade II listed building had once been threatened with demolition but is now being converted into 180 homes – almost half of which have now been sold.

The development unlocked the wider 13 acres site and had the support of Lancaster City Council and the Homes and Communties Agency.

Andrew Dobson, head of the Council’s Regeneration and Planning service said: “It is a brilliant example of vision, faith and determination and a great advert for change in the Northern part of the region and a great asset for Lancaster.”

Founded 35 years ago by Peter Livesey, the PJ Livesey Group works across the UK converting listed and historic buildings and developing bespoke new build homes.
