A restaurateur says he has no plans to close a popular eatery, despite a planning application being lodged to turn it into a chippy and noodle bar.

The Fusion Room opened on Friargate in 2008.

A planning application has been submitted to Preston City Council seeking a change of use from a restaurant into a fast food takeaway on the ground floor and to convert the first floor into residential use.

However, Russell Lee, who runs the restaurant, said the planning application was only “a contigency” and that the restaurant was still open for business.
