Properties across the North West are still without power today after overhead power lines were damaged in Storm Ophelia.
Engineers from Electricity North West worked solidly through the night to restore power to more than 18,000 properties across the region a spokesman said this morning.
Around 1,700 properties in the North West and 50 properties in the PR6, PR3, PR25 and PR5 areas remain without power this morning..
A representative for the company said that they were concentrating all their efforts to restore power to affected customers today.
The spokesman said: "The affected properties in Preston are all part of the same fault. Overhead power lines came down in the storm.
"Due to the bad weather we were unable to send engineers up to restore the lines last night.
"The winds have now dropped and we are now working to restore power."
