Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has officially opened the new Parcelforce Worldwide centre in Bamber Bridge, near Preston.
The new centre, which employs 104 people, is part of a UK-wide expansion programme by Parcelforce Worldwide, Royal Mail Group’s express parcel business, which has already created 130 new jobs in Chorley.
The Parcelforce Worldwide expansion is part of Royal Mail Group’s strategy to grow its parcels businesses in the UK and overseas.
The new purpose-built parcels depot is one of 12 new or expanded depots by Parcelforce Worldwide since 2014. This is in addition to Parcelforce Worldwide’s existing national and international hubs in Coventry.
The 9,000sq metre building in Bamber Bridge increases Parcelforce Worldwide’s domestic processing and distribution capability.
The new centre has the capacity to handle up to 2,000 parcels per hour and delivers an average of 11,500 items a day.
