Preston’s fuller-figured ladies will get a fillip tomorrow when a new plus-size fashion retailer opens in the city centre.
Yours Clothing, which caters for curvy women sized 16 to 36, is bringing its brand of clothing, lingerie, footwear and accessories to the St George’s Shopping Centre to fill what it says is a “gap in the market” in this part of Lancashire.
There has been huge demand in the area from our loyal customers to bring a store back into town. So we are delighted to be able to fill this gap in the market.
The store, which will be opposite H&M on the first floor, will be the company’s 118th outlet in the UK. It also boasts 12 internationally and a popular online site.
“We are very excited to be rapidly growing our store portfolio this year and for our 118th Yours Clothing store to open its doors in Preston,” said a spokesman.
“There has been huge demand in the area from our loyal customers to bring a store back into town. So we are delighted to be able to fill this gap in the market.”
The new store will be unveiled at 10am with goodie bags being handed out to the first customers through the door.
The opening comes just weeks after some major retailers were panned for the lack of options on offer for plus-size customers.
One fashion blogger highlighted the issue by declaring: “We’re not given the same choice as slim women.”
Bethany Rutter, 27, from London decided to design her own collection.
“If you are plus-size there is a real chance that the item you’re looking for doesn’t exist and has never existed.”
Yours Clothing also has stores in Blackburn, Blackpool, Wigan, Manchester and Liverpool.
