SALES of luxury products in Preston rocketed in 2013, continuing in the same trend in 2014, new research shows.
According to statistics from independent shopping price comparison site PriceSpy, shoppers in Preston aren’t afraid to splash the cash on luxury brands and goods, enjoying a 70 per cent growth in sales of luxury products in the last 12 months.
The UK as a whole saw an 81 per cent average increase in those searching for luxury items over the last 12 month period.
Leading the way as top sellers are premium-brand white goods, such as Smeg fridges and KitchenAid food processors, which saw an overall increase of 131 per cent, followed by Home Cinema systems at 98 per cent
Another product which saw a surprising upturn in sales, according to independent sales data, was that of king size (and above) beds and mattresses, where total sales almost doubled (93 per cent) over the course of one year.
Noemi Kubiak, senior vice president international for PriceSpy, said: “We noticed an overall increase in visits to our luxury item listings following the end of the recession in 2012 and decided to delve into this trend further. As we compare prices for over 647,000 products, we were able to investigate popularity trends and patterns, and how the general public has reacted to a recession-free environment.”
