Birchall Blackburn Law has become the first law firm in Preston to secure the prestigious Law Society’s quality mark in wills and inheritance.

The firm said its placement on the national Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) demonstrates its commitment to client care and expertise in wills and inheritance law.

To gain the accreditation, the company went through a rigorous application and assessment process.

Member firms help clients understand the legal issues when preparing a will, dealing with probate or inheritance advice.

Cathy MacCracken, partner at Birchall Blackburn Law, added: “A will is one of the most important financial and personal decisions that you can make, but currently there is no regulation surrounding will drafting so anyone is able hold themselves out as an expert.”

“Gaining the WIQS accreditation gives our clients peace of mind and the confidence that their Will is expressed in a way that is legally watertight. We can also advise on complex financial issues such as inheritance tax and trusts planning.”

Birchall Blackburn Law is now one of just a handful of law firms to hold nine Law Society accreditations across its service areas, holding the quality mark in Conveyancing, Insolvency, Family Law, Children Law and Commercial Litigation. It has offices in Chester, Chorley, Formby, Leyland, Manchester, Morecambe, Penwortham, Preston and Southport.
