A Lancashire bistro has scooped the title of ‘Best Bistro in England and Wales’, in the inaugural Food Awards England and Wales.
Aspect Bar and Bistro, on Marine Road, on Morecambe’s seafront, saw off strong competition from 48 other top contenders when it won the national title, despite being up against acclaimed names such as Ginger & White in London, the Waterfront Café in Oxfordshire and two eateries in the ‘Le Bistrot Pierre’ group.
Owners, Paul and Judy Bury, are delighted with how far they have come in such a short space of time since taking the decision to open the bistro.
Paul said: “We never dreamed that we would scoop a national award so quickly, but are delighted to receive this recognition, upon which we can build in 2015.
“We hope to be able to entice foodies and food editors to Morecambe, to take in the view, whilst indulging themselves by sampling what Aspect Bar and Bistro has to offer.
“We can even provide the insights of our local food champion suppliers, as they are very much part of our story so far.”
Customers to the bistro, that opened in February 2013, comment that the restaurant has that something extra that the other shortlisted restaurants simply can’t compete with - the added extra on the side of glorious sunsets over stunning Morecambe Bay.
