The future of a Lancashire-based business has been secured after being aquired by a German-owned group.
Sceptre Leisure is a major UK operator of gaming and amusement equipment to the leisure industry.
The business, based at Walton Summit, near Preston, has grown since 1998 and operates over 25,000 machines from 10 regional depots.
Now the Gauselmann Group has announced that it has acquired Sceptre Leisure’s assets.
Jürgen Stühmeyer, member of the board for sales at the Gauselmann Group, said: “The acquisition of the Sceptre Leisure business and assets was the most effective way of ensuring the future prosperity of its customers and staff.
“The Gauselmann Group will be working closely with the management team at Sceptre Leisure to provide all the support it needs to create a platform for innovation and growth in the UK market place”, he added.
While the Gauselmann Group has invested in several sectors of the UK market in recent years, including Blueprint Gaming, Praesepe and Betcom, this will be the first investment other than minority shareholdings in the UK operating sector.
The group says that the collaboration between the Gauselmann and Sceptre Leisure in the past two years had proven that the combining of development resources offers a distinct decisive benefit to the market.
The group added that, whilst it had concluded the purchase of the Sceptre Leisure assets, it was in discussion with another leading gaming company regarding the possibility of a strategic investment in the business designed to further strengthen the acquisition.
