Lancashire businesses are being urged to take advantage of a week of free events aimed at boosting the county’s exports.
UK Trade & Investment – the government body set up to help increase trade abroad – has teamed up with business leaders across the country for the fourth national Export Week, taking place from Monday, April 7 to Friday, April 11.
Export Week is a bi-annual national event which forms part of a drive to double UK exports to £1 trillion by 2020 and get 100,000 more companies exporting.
In the North West, Export Week will cover a range of markets from Asia Pacific to Africa, with events taking place in various towns and cities.
UKTI North West is working with a range of partners including chambers of commerce, growth hubs, Enterprise Europe Network, manufacturing advisory service, banks and a selection of the region’s export champions, who will be available to share their first-hand experiences. The Export Champions advice programme is unique to the North West.
Confirmed events include:
Monday, April 7: Grow your Business in Asia Pacific – Salford Reds Stadium, Greater Manchester; Tuesday, April 8: Grow your Business in Japan – Castle Green, Kendal, Cumbria; Wednesday, April 9: Grow your Business in Africa – Hard Day’s Night Hotel, Liverpool; Thursday, April 10: Grow your Business in Southern Asia – Graham & Brown’s, Blackburn; Friday, April 11: Grow your business in Central and Eastern Europe – Crewe Hall, Cheshire
Clive Drinkwater, regional director, UTKI North West, said: “Exports have a key role in helping the economic recovery, and I hope the events taking place during Export Week will encourage even more businesses and entrepreneurs to start trading abroad.”
