Two Lancashire groups have become the first organisations to be given a cash boost by a regional builder as part of its year-long initiative to support local communities.
Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity and Burscough FC Juniors have each received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Lancashire.
The donation to the two causes has kickstarted Persimmon’s Community Champions project.
It will see a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities over the next 12 months throughout the region.
Two groups will be chosen every month to receive a match-funding donation. Charities are being encouraged to apply by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity .
The Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity works hard to support local hospitals across Lancashire and Cumbria, including Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Judith Read, charity coordinator for Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Persimmon Homes to receive this generous donation. This contribution will allow us to provide the extras which can make such a difference to patients and service users in our care. We are grateful to have their support.”
Mark Cook, managing director of Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said : “We are very pleased to hand over our first donations to two such extremely worthy causes. Both groups play a vital role within their communities.”
