The parent company of Preston Bus has taken over a Greater-Manchester-based operator.
Rotala has completed the acquisition of Green Triangle Buses Ltd (South Lancs Travel), based in Atherton.
We see this opportunity as an entrance route into the Greater Manchester market, and it leaves the Rotala group well positioned for future market developments and potential opportunities
Currently South Lancs Travel runs around 43 buses from its Atherton depot, with a staff of around 100.
It operates a mix of commercial and tendered work around Bolton, Leigh, Manchester and Wigan.
Operationally South Lancs Travel will form part of the Rotala Plc North West Division, and will be renamed Diamond Bus (North West) Ltd in due course.
Bob Dunn, managing director of Preston Bus, has been appointed a director of the company, with John Asquith, operations manager of Preston Bus, becoming regional operations manager.
Les Jones, engineering manager of Preston Bus will become regional engineering manager.

The award-winning team at Preston Bus shared the Service Business of the Year award at the 2014 Be Inspired Business Awards, run by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. It shared the accolade with care home provider the Springhill Care Group.
The Preston Bus team also won the Leadership Team of the Year award at the BIBAs in 2013.
Rotala operates commercial and subsidised bus routes for businesses, local authorities, the public and private individuals.
It is concentrated mainly in the North West, the West Midlands and the South West.
