Supermarket chain Booths is considering selling stores in Blackpool and Preston, it revealed today.

Recently the company announced it was closing two Lancashire stores but opening three new ones.

Booths are reviewing the offers, and for legal reasons are not in a position to comment, but the welfare and preservation of jobs and local services are of paramount importance to Booths.

And 100 management jobs are set to be lost as part of a staff restructure.

A spokesman for the Preston-based store chain said today: “Booths are considering the sale of the Normoss store in Blackpool, Torrisholme store in Morecambe, and Lane Ends, Preston, having been approached by a number of parties interested in taking on the stores as a going concern.

“Booths are reviewing the offers, and for legal reasons are not in a position to comment, but the welfare and preservation of jobs and local services are of paramount importance to Booths.

“While the company is in negotiations they are unable to comment further on this news, but will provide updated statements as plans are made.”
