The vision for a £1m investment into Preston’s Winckley Square has been unveiled.
Exclusive images of plans for the Georgian square have now been revealed, including improved paths, a new paved area and recessed lighting.
After receiving a first round pass from the Lottery last year, the team behind the revival of the city centre gem is now set to submit the detailed proposals later this month.
If the project is given the green light, work is hoped to start early next year with the restored square to be opened next summer.
“People love it as a city centre wilderness,” said Groundwork’s Ben Williams. “We want to keep that informality while giving it a bit more function as a piece of green space.”
