Five different visions for the future of Preston Bus Station are to be unveiled in the city next week.
Lancashire County Council will put the shortlisted designs on view at the terminus on Thursday for travellers to have a first look.
The final five have been selected by a panel of judges from almost 100 submitted in an international design competition to transform the decaying Grade II Listed building and its concourse in a £23m makeover.
“I think we will end up with a truly remarkable building at the end of it all, ” said council leader Coun Jennifer Mein.
The public will be allowed a say in which of the five finalists is chosen. Almost 300 international architects registered to submit entries, 93 eventually put in designs.
“I am confident we have picked five interesting and varied options, ” said Coun Matthew Tomlinson, a member of the selection panel.
