The 13-year-old star won Preston’s Got Talent in aid of the Katy Holmes Trust with a song she had written herself, and then performed on stage alongside Russell Watson at his Concert for Katy.

And the gifted schoolgirl now hopes to follow her dreams to become a singer and songwriter, after she began writing songs at the age of just seven.

Nina, of Clayton-le-Woods, near Chorley, described performing The Prayer with Russell Watson as “incredible”.

She said: “It was even better than I was expecting. There were so many people, it was amazing to perform in front of so many.

“I was so nervous before I went on, but once I was on stage I got in my element.”

Nina, who attends Balshaw’s CE High School, said she would now love to become a professional singer and song writer.

She said: “I started writing songs when I was about seven - obviously they weren’t very good. I had piano lessons and I sang as well so I started writing songs, and I wrote a song called Life is a Rollercoaster.

“I’m not sure what made me want to start, but I was watching things like Hannah Montana and I just loved it.

“I used to perform for my nanny and grandad and pretend I was on the X Factor - my family were really supportive, even when I was little.”

Nina said when she was about nine, she performed Amy Winehouse’s Valerie on karaoke.

She said: “That’s when I got into it, and when my mum and dad realised I was taking it seriously.”

Nina said she was currently writing new songs, and said she took her inspiration from different everyday events.

She said: “I get ideas in my head and rush to the piano and I write it down.

“Or I’ll be at school, and I will write it down or write it on my hand. I think what has really helped me is my singing teacher Becky - she is absolutely incredible.

“She has supported me loads and she is the one who entered me into Preston’s Got Talent.”

The talented teen now hopes to sing wherever she can, and said she would like to sing like her favourite star, Adele.

She said: “All the songs I write are really slow with the piano, and I really admire her and all the songs
she writes are amazing.”
