For a 2016 calendar has been produced to help light the place up this Christmas.

Sales from it will go towards providing better Christmas lights - which folk have been calling out for to give the town more of a festive feel. The Leyland Town Team has organised a campaign called Light up Leyland, aimed at boosting the attractiveness of the town to shoppers.

Martin Carlin, who runs Peppermint Cottage, Hough Lane, with his wife Karen, explained: “We launched this calendar at the Leyland Festival and have sold quite a few.

“The idea is to bring more people into Leyland. It means there’s more money being spent in the shops and keeps businesses going.”

The council says it fully supports the calendar to enhance the lights already there.
