BREAKING: Death of woman in Whitestake 'not suspicious'

The death of a woman in Whitestake is not being treated as suspicious, despite a murder probe initially being launched.

Sixty-three-year-old Peter Coxhead was arrested on suspicion of murder after his wife, Ruth Coxhead, 62, was found dead at their home in Parker Lane, Whitestake, on Tuesday morning.

Mr Coxhead was held in custody for two days before being released with no further action.

A post mortem examination has established the cause of Mrs Coxhead’s death as a wound to the head.

A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said: “Following their inquiries, officers are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.

“A 63 year old man from Preston who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released no further action.”
